The winds are cooperating with our plan to cross to Marathon. Pulled Anchor at Shark River and heading south the 50 plus miles to our next destination.
CROSSING TO MARATHON
Most of the crossing involved an eye out for the crab pots- hundreds dotted the water . The only consolation is knowing that a plate of stone crabs is in our future.
NAVIGATION THRU SHALLOW WATERS
Can you believe that the whole crossing was mostly 20 feet or shallower? We could really see the colors start change as we head into more tropical waters!

It didn’t take long to notice an increase in the winds:
NEW YEARS EVE AT FARO BLANCO WITH BRENT
This is our month to entertain, and first guest is Colleen’s son Brent = just in time for New Years eve. We had a chance to go snorkeling, a bus trip to Key West, dinner at the Sunset Grill and much more!
Here are a few photos from the week!
The manatees swam up to our boat. they drank from the air conditioner discharge! They are so ugly
FUN IN KEY WEST
With no car, it was a city bus rider to Key West. Not too bad , about 1.5 hours one way.
Checked out a bar with dollar bills on the ceiling and walls.
Brent found a diner that was featured on Triple D so we had Lunch at DJ’s Clam Shack.
A good way to learn about the city is the Conch Train Tour!
Back at Marathon, we took the dinghy to the Keys Fishery – specialty is lobster Rueben. large enough to share! Very yummy.
Lots more memories; but as they say- What happens in the Keys, stays in the Keys!
Enjoy, thanks for reading!
